So long, Adobe

I was thrown out of the CS5 beta today, my constant change and addition requests were seen as “disruptive”.
I can´t go into the details for NDA reasons but i´m sad its seen like that when someone complains because he hopes for improvements.

I hope that the final version of the flash cs5 will be fine as I expect.

  2. Ugur Says:

I can´t talk about any specifics that aren´t publicly announced already, so yeah, for now i´ll just say let´s hope for the best.

  3. Oz Says:

That’s pretty weird man, I think it’s pretty unfortunate for Adobe if they can’t handle your suggestions.

  4. Ugur Says:

    Well, of course i agree.

I think its not everyone at Adobe, but yeah, not even speaking about this incident, some Adobe staff members do get upset when people publicly talk too negatively or disappointed or asking for things Adobe does not intend to deliver.
Some examples that come to my mind are
    blog posts by Bit:

    or Seb:
    http://sebleedelisle.com/2009/10/adobe-max-part-1-flash-on-the-iphone/
where some Adobe guys are always quick to jump in in sometimes all too defensive manner or the reaction of several Adobe employees on their blogs regarding flash again not running in the browser of the iPad and more importantly what Apple bigwigs have said regarding flash not performing well and not being stable enough.

I´m a software developer myself, i understand it how it can really personally hurt to some degree when something one worked on gets bashed so heavily publicly, but yeah, as software developer its also the job to take criticism constructively instead of taking it personally and trying to silence people who want too many improvements in too loud manner.

I´m maybe not the best person to educate others on how to become better software engineers or how to better react when someone criticizes you, but yeah, i´m a longtime (from first commercial Macromedia release onwards) Flash user and have been an Evangelist for it for many years, not one hired and paid by Adobe, but someone doing it out of own passion for the product(s) and belief in it..
When i talk about downsides, its cause i hope for the best possible result, i have many games and apps made over the years that i´d like to port to iPhone without rewriting them from the ground up and i´d also like to develop many new ones using it, both if the thing is a good choice when it comes out. Just like i use other tools/languages for when they are a good choice.
I´d also like to see flash as good choice for more web projects in the future and not having to agree to people who say it has bad performance and stability issues on many platform/ browser combinations or lower end systems.

Well, yeah, i said what i thought was important to say and was kicked for it.

I still hope they release something good at the end cause its for the best of all.
    Let´s see how it goes.
